Earth Defense Force: Priorities

Playing Earth Defense Force: 2017 with my college roommate Jake was an experience not entirely dissimilar to what I imagine Stockholm Syndrome must feel like. He's always been naturally, um, assertive... and since he was the one who had introduced me to this masterpiece of modern gaming, our relationship as co-op partners was hardly what you could call "balanced" or "fair-minded" or "humane". He was the renegade soldier of fortune, I the trusting neophyte, and when those jarringly low-res WEAPON sprites popped up in the midst of the melee, I was immediately demoted to cannon-fodder. And yet I always complied, "for the sake of the team".
I swear, something about the game's impossibly fragile cityscapes, brimming with impossibly large insectoid mutants and defended by small units of impossibly stiff-legged marionettes left me curiously open to suggestion. Or maybe I'm just weak-willed.

Either way, fun game. You should play it.
